New Fund Launches for Small Community – Led Organisations

First Steps Enterprise Fund launched for community – led organisations in North West and South West of England.

Small community – led organisations based in the North West or South West of England can now apply for up to £30,000 from the new First Steps Enterprise Fund. The fund is offering loan – grant packages to charities and social enterprises working in these communities to help them grow their services and become more sustainable. The investments are the first steps towards accessing the wider social investment market and more financing options. Eligible organisations will have been operating for longer than one year but less than three years.

It is a pilot partnership between ASDA Foundation and the Social Investment Business Foundation. The fund intends to catalyse other UK corporate foundations to use their money innovatively to create social impact in communities across the country. It will complement ASDA foundation’s other programmes and will meet their aim of creating stronger and more sustainable communities.

Deadline for applications is noon 26th June 2015

Crosby Construction land major contract in partnership with AVBN & Liverpool City Council

Following the successful partnership between Alt Valley Business Network and Liverpool City Council with their Meet the Buyer Event for the construction sector in May 2014;  one of the AVBN members ‘Crosby Construction’ was successful in landing a major contract with KIER Construction (Northern)

Bob Britton of KIER commented on the high standard of workmanship undertaken by Crosby Construction Ltd on the site at Deepdale Preston.
