AVCT Acts As A ‘Drop Off Point’ for Radio City’s Toy Appeal

AVCT are pleased to announce that we have joined forces with Radio City’s Mission Christmas by offering to act as a drop off point across three of our centres. If you wish to particpate in the appeal you have the choice to drop your donations off at;

Adult Education Course Proves a Hit!

Six weeks ago a range of Adult Education courses began at AVCT. Courses ranged from Hair & Beauty, Sew N Save and Healthy Cooking on a Budget. The latter has proven a real hit amongst its learners; as we have received a positive response from all of the attendees.

One learner explained “I have learned a lot of new techniques and also I have a greater understanding of cooking on a budget.” Furthermore expressing how wonderful she thought the tutor was and how attending the course was useful; not only on the food budget but also on her health & wellbeing.

Wellbeing Wednesday Success

On Wednesday 4th November the health initiative ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ launched at Walton Sports Centre. The event went really well attracting 150 members of the public; as well as special guests – Local Councillor Barry Kushner and the Deputy Mayor of Liverpool Anne O’Byrne. Partners such as Fag Ends and Healthy Homes were also in attendance.

All attendees received a FREE soup bag and also participated in a variety of activities such as Tai Chi, Yoga and even Beauty Treatments!

AVCT in partnership with Liverpool Mutual Homes (LMH) and Community Health Ambassador Team (CHATS) are delivering the scheme in order to improve the health & wellbeing of the City’s residents.

Each week the team will provide FREE advice to anyone who wishes to attend. It is ongoing and is held every Wednesday at Walton Sports Centre from 11am – 2pm.

Santa’s Grotto is BACK at Croxteth Park Farm!

Santa’s Grotto is returning to Croxteth Park Farm!

The Grotto will be available from Saturday 28th November 2015 – Thursday 24th December 2015*.

Activities include: Arts & Crafts including letter writing to Santa, Santa’s Workshop, Gift from Santa AND A Farm Visit!

The package is £10.00 per child however Adults go FREE!

Festive snacks & refreshments are available to buy from our cafe.

AVBN Member wins ‘Entrepreneur of the Year!’

A member of the Alt Valley Business Network; Karen Bellion received ‘Entrepreneur of the Year 2015’ at this years inaugural FSB Liverpool City Region Business Awards.

Karen who has been a member of the network since January 2014 quoted “I am delighted to have won the award for Entrepreneur of the Year at the inaugural FSB Liverpool City Region Business Awards. It feels like a vindication of the work we are doing at Othella LLP and I can’t wait for next year. There was such a fantastic line-up so to have come out as winner is brilliant”.

AVCT launch Kids Book Club

AVCT are introducing a ‘Kids Book Club’ which will begin Saturday 14th November 2015 from 11am. Each session will run for an hour and is FREE to attend. Therefore if your child enjoys reading or discovering new authors this book club is for them. Children must be aged 7 -13 years old and on the first session children will discuss how they would like thier book club to run.

AVCT Take Ownership of Dovecot Library

After successfuly operating Croxteth Library since November 2010. AVCT was invited by Liverpool City Council to take over the ‘reigns’ at Dovecot Library, based in Dovecot MAC. With the help and support of Liverpool City Libraries and AVCT staff, the official handover took place on Monday 2nd November 2015. With the continued support of AVCT and Liverpool City Libraries, we look forward to Dovecot Library maintaining our excellent record of supporting community libraries.

Croxteth Sports & Wellbeing Centre Receive Positive Feedback

Croxteth Sports & Wellbeing Centre received positive feedback from a football coach who uses the centre regulary with his local junior football team.

Jay Thomas of Remyca J FC states “Being from the area we regularly use the Croxteth Sports Centre for winter training and Christmas parties. I thought I should be letting Alt Valley know what a wonderful job the staff there are doing in helping local kids enjoy the facilities and helping come to arrangements and times to help with costs of hiring the facility.”

Furthermore explaining, “Kids football costs are ever increasing but thanks to your Croxteth centre we are able to have our teams training and playing regularly which is very important in our aim to supply kids with a safe environment to develop to the best of their ability.”

The centre consits of a large Sports Hall which can cater for almost the entire range of local, national and international indoor sports. The sports hall also possesses a spectator viewing gallery. The hall can also be used for birthday parties etc. – £40 per hour.
