This year over 40 young people completed apprenticeships which ensured that our community’s young people leave our organisation armed with the skills necessary to equip them for the world of work. Our apprentices gained hands on experience in apprenticeships including: Live events, bricklaying and joinery, horticulture, hairdressing and childcare. Our two drama groups: Acting Up and Alt Valley Contemporary Youth Theatre recently collaborated on a new play Good Education written by Paula Currie based on the occupation of Croxteth Comprehensive.
Over 30 people participated in the project and we are delighted to announce that the play will be performed again in the New Year at Liverpool’s Everyman Theatre.

Alt Valley Community Trust has been the North Liverpool collection point for this appeal organised by Vorny Redmond. Ms Redmond states “…the idea came from me just wanting to do a bit of good this Christmas and when I was in school we used to do shoebox appeals to be shipped abroad but I thought it would be nice to do something within our own community especially as the need for it is so huge”
In partnership with Our Lady and St Swithins School over 70 boxes have been collected through the generosity of local children, the wider Croxteth Community and staff at the Trust. Recipients of the gifts included: The First Step, The Whitechapel Centre, The Basement, SHAP and Wirral Ark.
All of these Organisations have said how thrilled they are to be receiving these Christmas presents for their beneficiaries.

Congratulations to drama students at Alt Valley who are celebrating achieving their Open Awards Level 1 in Performing Arts (Improvisation and Performance).
Tutor Paula Currie said, “Eight of our learners have received their Open Awards Qualification in Performing Arts. It’s great to see the group developing new skills and achieving their goals. Well done!”

Alt Valley Community Trust is one of 3 International Partner Organisations commissioned to undertake a Transnational project between Sweden, Germany and the UK.
The project, Erasmus+, covers a period from September 2014 to August 2017 and is looking into why young people become NEET (not in education, employment or training), and will identify best practice for professionals to follow.
The other 2 Partner Organisations are BildungsWerk in Kreuzberg(A training organisation in Berlin) and FBA (Centre for Professional Development and Internationalisation at Uppsala University Sweden).

Alt Valley Community Trust has launched its new brand and website this month (December 2015).
The Trust commissioned Liverpool-based website and branding agency, Digon, to completely rebrand the Trust’s image and marketing materials, including its website. In recent years the Trust has expanded its field of activities enormously, and it was felt that the image and the ways it communicates in its Communities needed to reflect the huge amount of work that is going on to regenerate and energise the Alt Valley area. The new website covers all the major areas of services that the Trust is now engaged in, from Community Engagement, Sport & Wellbeing to Education & Training, Business & Enterprise, Drama and Creative Writing.
The Trust CEO Phil Knibb says, “This has been a major piece of work for the Trust given the huge range of activities we now engage in and we are delighted with the outcome and the way Digon have gone about the task with great imagination and shared goals. We feel we now have the quality of brand and website to match our own vision and aspirations.”
Digon’s Creative Director, Mark Trevor, who has been the driving force behind the project adds, “We wanted the new brand to visually reference not only the River Alt, but also the flow of positive changes that Alt Valley Community Trust has brought to the local area. It’s been great to work with such a motivated social enterprise and we hope that the new website and identity will help the organisation to grow even further and build upon the valuable services and facilities they currently bring to the people of Liverpool.”
