Are you happy with ATMs in your area?

AVCT was invited by Toynbee Hall in the East End of London to participate in Access to cash research with similar organisations in Glasgow, Port Talbot and Nottingham.

This involved training our community focused staff in participatory action research methodology so they could interview community members about the barriers and problems linked to accessing cash. Many respondents identified issues such as poor reliability, feelings of insecurity, inaccessibility and being charged to withdraw cash as being their key concerns.

Data from the interviews will be analysed and help to create a UK wide on- line survey on the same subject matter.

The overall aim of this important research is to influence policy making, particularly in identifying solutions and improvements for Linked LTD who run the UK’s ATM network.
