It’s been a very busy month at Alt Valley – here is a collection of updates, stories and more of what’s been going on.
97th birthday Celebration for De La Salle School
We joined the local community at the Queen of Martyrs Social Club to celebrate the 97th birthday of De La Salle School!
For the past 97 years, De La Salle has been, and still is today, an asset to the local community. The school has been there to ensure local children can be provided with a quality education and the school has gone on to help produce some of our city’s most celebrated talent.
It was amazing to see the community come together to celebrate De La Salle and hearing the stories and memories from past and present pupils, teachers, parents and local groups who use the facilities at De La Salle, was inspiring.
The event was organised by Ian Byrne MP, who is strongly opposed to the potential closure of De La Salle. Ian spoke about how important the school is to the local community and wanted people to come together support it, and they certainly did!
Christmas Bakers
This is what our learners from our Christmas Cakes, Bakes and Treats course have recently been working on…
We’d like to say a big well done to our learners for creating these tasty treats, they look delicious!
Solvent University Visit
It was a pleasure to welcome a group of sociology students from Solent University in Southampton and also Ian Byrne MP to our Communiversity building!
The students, who are currently in their third year of study, have recently been working virtually with our staff to gain experience of community based work. Read the full blog post here.
